Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
What type of clients do you work with?
I work together with small businesses and sole proprietors looking to establish or improve their branding — online, in person, or both. My clients are in industries including service, retail, healthcare, publishing, and technology. I also provide white label design services for creative and digital marketing agencies.
Why should I work with you?
Professional design work takes an appropriate amount of time and attention. Once we start a project, my role is as a collaborative partner, and I take the time to understand your business and what makes it unique, and work with you to build a web presence or print and digital brand and marketing assets that you love.
How much do you charge?
My fees are project-based, determined by scope, complexity, and the amount of time required to design and deliver professional, functional finished projects. A single price for a project includes all the required software and creative asset licenses, as well as domain registration, web hosting and other back-end website costs, or print and production charges as needed, broken down for you in the quote. I require a down payment of half of the project cost to lock it in on the schedule and get started. The remainder of the project cost is only paid upon full delivery of design work, and only when you are fully satisfied with your creatives.
I know that when starting and operating a small business, costs can add up, and I aim to work at a price point that works within your marketing budget. So let’s book a call and discuss – I’ve found that there’s almost always a way to make the collaboration work price-wise by adjusting the scope or timeframe of a project.
Can’t I get work cheaper on Upwork or Fiverr?
You can, and sometimes, you can get really great work done really inexpensively. But designers working at lower price points are operating on volume, using one-size-fits-all templates to deliver acceptable results in the least amount of time before moving on to the next project. Page builders and platforms are great tools for experienced designers to turn projects around quickly, but despite the advertising, nothing works seamlessly out of the box. Professional design requires time and customization, and you know it when you see it (like when a site that looks fine on your laptop looks broken on your phone). You can certainly get lucky, but I’ve worked with plenty of clients who are unhappy with their $500 website or Fiverr purchased logo because the designer simply stopped working on it before it was truly finished.
What if I already have a website or own a domain?
No problem! I can work with you in any platform or with any host you’re already using for your website, and help you no matter how far along you are in your brand journey, whether it’s a complete new build, rebuild, or a minor refresh. You may have purchased a domain, own a Google or GoDaddy starter site, have an existing site that’s gotten stale or that you’re just not happy with — I will work with your existing architecture or recommend alternatives that can save you money while improving your web presence.
What does your maintenance fee include?
Hosting and site maintenance, including minor content updates, are included in a project quote for the first three months. After that, if I’m hosting your site, I charge an affordable monthly maintenance fee, billed quarterly. This covers all hosting and associated costs, as well as required updates to plugins and other back-end architecture, to ensure your site is fast, functions properly, and is safe from security threats.
How do we get started?
Get in touch below and let me know about your project and get a quote, either through email or on a brief call if you’d prefer. I appreciate and have great relationships with each of the clients I work with, and value the trust they place in me to design creatives that speak to the quality of their unique business. I’d love to learn more about your brand and what you’re looking for!

About me:
I am an accomplished designer and leader with 20 years of professional experience, and expertise in digital, print, and motion graphic design. As Owner and Creative Director at Doug Davala Design LLC, I have helped bar and restaurant owners, landscape companies, therapy practices, security and technology business owners, creative agencies, and more look their best online and in person. I am also a consultant Art Director at Revere Bicycles in Howell, NJ, where I handle branding, web and e-commerce design, and video advertising for the company’s Amazon and Shopify presences.
I live in northern New Jersey with my wife and my cat, Uma Purrman. Outside of my office, I’m a mediocre skateboarder and snowboarder, a pretty good bowler, and I celebrate Halloween pretty much year-round.
Reach out to see more work or learn more about projects I’ve worked on, or get in touch if you might like to work together. I’d love to chat about any opportunity to help!
